WCW FC & Armitage FA Press Release

Chicago, IL, January 12, 2009 -- The Windy City Wanderers FC and Armitage FA today announced a partnership that will see the only two adult soccer-dedicated clubs in Chicago join forces to provide the best soccer experience in the city.

With over 9 years experience of providing excellent soccer in the city between them, WCW and AFA will pool their knowledge, resources and membership to organize outstanding Pickup, Leagues and Tournaments twelve months of the year.

Chicago is fast becoming the top soccer city in the United States, and this new partnership will exist to further promote the sport here, the state and also the country. By joining forces, the two organizations will be able to offer soccer players usage of some of the best soccer fields in the city, on a par with the large sport and social clubs. However, WCW & AFA will focus 100% on soccer and on no other sport. This will enable the highest level of organization, competition and customer service for Chicago soccer players.

In addition to this, WCW and AFA will continue their affiliation with the Illinois State Soccer Association. Among other things, this means that all leagues and tournaments will use the best USF certified referees in the state, and roster integrity will be enforced via ISSA passes.

The first season of new soccer leagues will begin in the spring of 2009 with a large sixteen team Coed league divided into a Premier Division and First Division. An exciting promotion and relegation system will be in place. There will also be a highly competitive Men's league and Women's league in addition to continued weekly Tournaments, organized Pickup soccer and also the inaugural season of a Beach Soccer League. The Coed, Men's and Women's leagues will be played on some of the best Field Turf in the city.

All registrations, logistics and communication will be the responsibility of the Windy City Wanderers. Please contact Founder & Director Matt Rosine with any questions: mattrosine@wcwfc.com or 312-235-6680

The Windy City Wanderers were established in 2006 as a Pickup group, but after two seasons that attracted over 100 people to each game, the club quickly became the biggest and most active adult dedicated soccer club in Chicago. Affiliated with the ISSA, WCW has continued to grow in 2007 and 2008 by providing outdoor leagues, indoor winter leagues, Pickup seven days a week, weekly tournaments, a luxury bus service to all Chicago Fire home games and much more.

Armitage Football Association is a soccer-only league founded in 2003. It offers quality adult indoor and outdoor leagues for men, women and co-ed. The men's league is affiliated with the Illinois State Soccer Association. All leagues use USSF-certified referees.
