WCW Pickup, 2009

Providing a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere to play Pickup (thats right, we've made it into a proper noun!) is what got us where we are today.

Many Pickup groups exist within the city, but most of them lack any kind of organized infrastructure  - you wouldn't know how many people were going to show up (if at all) and what skill level they were going to play at. This is the reason that WCW was founded back in the summer of 2006, and is still what drives us to this day. 

All of our outdoor Pickup games on grass cost $1 to play. That's right. Just $1 (unless you are a Premier Member, in which case it’s free!)

Within the first year of WCW outdoor Pickup, attendance on Sunday afternoons went from 30 people to 60 to over 120 by the middle of 2007. Those numbers are a testament to what WCW is trying to achieve - fun, friendly soccer for everyone (not just the awesome players!)

Nobody runs great Pickup like WCW. Some other Pickup groups are made up of tight cliques. Some seem to have fights in every game. This is the opposite of everything WCW stands for - everyone is welcome, everyone has a good time. Many of our games are divided up by skill level: beginner, intermediate and advanced. No matter your level, there is a place for you here.

During the spring summer and fall, we host outdoor Pickup games nearly 7 days a week! If you're new to WCW, we encourage you to check out our Sunday afternoon 'flagship' sessions - there is nothing like turning up to see 100 like minded people ready to play a summer afternoon of soccer by the lake!

During the winter, we host several indoor games every week - most of them on artificial turf! We also host weekly Friday evening indoor tournaments. All of these games can be found by checking out our calendar right here.
